About Sunnybank Sewing Services

Sunnybank Sewing Services was established in 2021. In an out of house cabin at the bottom of nichola's garden during the covid lock down period. This buisness became very popular in a short space of time as the local hospitals required lots of NHS scrubs wear.

Sunnybank Sewing Services got its name from a cottage that Nichola lived in, Sunnybank Cottage.

Since opening, Sunnybank Sewing Services has gone from strength to strength, since the manufaturing of sewing services and textiles have slowly decreased in the uk and many seamstresses have now retired. 

With many years of experience working in textiles, sewing manufacturing and designing, Sunnybank Sewing Services entered the world of bridal, suit and clothing alterations.

Founded by Nichola Hursthouse, a skilled tailor with a vision to provide top-notch alteration services to the community.

Throughout the years, Sunnybank Sewing Services has achieved numerous milestones in delivering exceptional tailoring services to our valued customers.

 

Founded by Nichola, the business began as a small operation with a big passion for quality craftsmanship and customer care.

 

In March 2022, business was booming and we began to outgrow our little cabin. Sunnybank Sewing Services opened the door to a new adventure by expanding and moving to Pleasley Vale Creative Suites, located within the historic Pleasley Vale Mills.

 

In May 2023, Catherine joined the business — when one became two.

 

After two cold winters in the creative suites, a new opportunity arose. A high street shop became available, and in February 2024, Sunnybank Sewing Services relocated to 51 High Street, Clay Cross, Chesterfield.

 

In 2025, Hannah joined the business — when two became three — bringing continued growth and support to the team.

 

As the business continued to grow, we once again outgrew our space. In May 2025, Sunnybank Sewing Services relocated to larger premises at 32 High Street, Clay Cross, Chesterfield, S45 9DY. This exciting move has allowed us to enhance our services, including the addition of a luxurious bridal fitting room designed to give every bride a special and personal experience.
